Using trace monotypes to create a two-sided image legible from both sides of a western facing window if, if: * * hinges on the “if” of an unfinished “if, then” statement. Reading loosely “if when A, B, * * or X O please,” if, if: * * spins us into conjecture, longing, scheming, rerouting, bargaining. With words that flip in orientation from backwards to forwards depending on the viewing side, the works string together to create a looping logic, a syntax that does not resolve, a circular formula. The star or sun is the only output, the only guarantee. As if in affirmation of this thesis, late afternoon light floods the prints such that they glow.
